murphy’s laws

Standard

Several years ago, my brothers gave me a page-a-day Murphy’s Law calendar.  The following pages are still up on my wall.  I figured I’d share them with you.  They show great wisdom, yes?

Inge’s Axiom– It is useless for sheep to pass resolutions in favor of vegetarianism while wolves remain of a different opinon.

France’s Rule of Folly— If a million people believe a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing.

Maier’s Law– If the facts do not conform to the theory, they must be disposed of.

Stewart’s Law of Retroaction– It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Syrus’ Axiom– Not every question deserves an answer.

The Voicemail Principle– Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first put on hold.

Ginsberg’s Theorem– 1.  You can’t win.  2. You can’t break even.  3.  You can’t even quit the game.

Baker’s Rule– Inanimate objects are classified scientifically into three major categories: those that don’t work, those that break down, and those that get lost.

First Rule of Acting– Whatever happens, look as if it were intended.

Dr. Who’s Rule– First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
